Rita:
Dakini of Joyful Effort and Devotion

The
end
of Rita Frizzell's tenure as Tennessee coordinator signaled
the close of a brilliant era of growth along with a deepening
of understanding of Buddhism for us all. Her accomplishments
during her three years at the helm of our sangha are too numerous
to list completely, but here are some of the highlights:
- The
addition of a new weekly video night to our meeting offerings
which she very ably hosted and led
- A
huge increase in memberships which resulted in greenbacks
for our hungry coffers
|
- Leadership
of our Tuesday night group,
- With
the Khenpos and Bob Walker, the finishing of our temple
and the construction of most of our new sangha house
- Introduction
to Buddhism seminars, a cornerstone for many newcomers
- Heading
the past three Summer Retreats
- The
design of all promotion and brochures
Above
and beyond all these external accomplishments are Rita's midnight-oil
devotion to the Khenpos, her ever-deepening scholarship, and
her embodiment of the Buddhist concept of joyful effort. More
than anything else, these qualities will stand as an almost-humbling
inspiration to us all. And we all rejoice in the vast good
karma she will some day enjoy from her service of others.
Maybe it will start with a well-earned rest!
Rita,
you lead one way-- by example. THANK YOU!
However,
the beat must and will go on. New coordinator Dolly Carlisle,
perhaps the only one in the sangha whose hours of service over
the past year approach Rita's, has all our confidence and prayers.
We can't wait to see what Dolly brings to the sangha! |
